The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund (IFHF) serves United States military personnel experiencing the Invisible Wounds of War: Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS). When our Servicemen and women return from the battlefield, IFHF helps them fight ‘The War Within’ by building world-class, advanced treatment centers providing the best TBI and PTS care, enabling them to continue to serve on Active Duty and enjoy a productive life. Currently, IFHF is building a series of ten specially-designed treatment facilities, called Intrepid Spirit Centers, on military bases across the nation. Eight Intrepid Spirit Centers are open and serving America’s brave men and women in uniform. The ninth center is currently under construction at Fort Carson, CO with a tenth center planned at Fort Bliss, TX. The Intrepid Spirit Center program is only the latest in the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund’s almost 20-year history of assisting America’s military community. Since 2000, IFHF has provided over $200 million in support for severely wounded military personnel and families of military personnel lost in service to our nation. For more information visit

4th of July

July Manager’s Minute

We Will Be Closed Monday July 4th

This month in your Manager’s Minute I want to talk about Summer Travel and Batteries. As we get ready to celebrate our Independence, I want to remind everyone to have your vehicle checked. Summer travel can be unpredictable if your vehicle isn’t up to it. Summer heat can effect your car battery, AC performance, not to mention leading to your car over-heating.

The 4th of July is the official celebration of summer and a great time to take a road trip, so get your vehicle ready. We’re offering a Free Battery inspection. I recommend getting your car battery checked before you hit the road. Heat can cause damage to your battery and leave you stranded on the side of the road. This month, when you buy a new NAPA Battery, you can help the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. So come in and see us and get your car ready for summer travel.

Brakes: Important Safety Equipment

When it comes to vehicle safety, your brake system is at the top of the list. Brakes are a normal wear item for any car & eventually they’re going to need to be replaced. For routine maintenance, check your vehicle’s braking system at least once a year. A thorough inspection should include brake lining wear, brake fluid level, rotor thickness, condition of hoses & brake lines, brake & dash warning lights, as well as taking the car for a test drive to detect other potential brake system problems.

If your car is pulling to the left or right, or if you hear odd noises when you apply the brakes, you should inspect your brakes. Other warning signs include an illuminated brake warning light, brake grabbing, low pedal feel, vibration, hard pedal feel & squealing.
Several factors that affect brake wear include driving habits, operating conditions, vehicle type & the quality of the brake lining material. Never put off routine brake inspections or any needed repair, such as letting the brakes get to the “metal-to metal” point, which can be potentially dangerous & lead to a more costly repair bill.

“A properly operating brake system helps ensure safe vehicle operation & control under a variety of driving conditions,” said Rich White, Executive Director of the non-profit Car Care Council. “Motorists can put a stop to any potential brake system problems by recognizing the signs & symptoms that their brake system may need maintenance or repair.” The Car Care Council offers tools to help you learn more about auto care & brake repair.

June Manager's Minute

June Manager’s Minute

June is here and summer is soon to follow. I know if you’re like me, you already have your travel plans laid out for the summer. But, that’s just the beginning, the rest is preparation. Like taking your car in for a trip check. Before hitting the road, I always like to do a full vehicle inspection. And even though I’m a mechanic and I know what’s under my hood and don’t expect surprises, I still check my oil when I fill up. Especially if I’m pulling trailer. We’re here to do the first part for you. Schedule your oil change and trip check before your go. And, don’t forget to check the oil while you go.

June means Father’s Day. Sure, Dad usually takes care of the car stuff, but why don’t you take it off his plate this month? Get his car serviced for him. An oil change or fluid service or a membership to our Car Care Club, any of these can make a great gift. Ask at the desk and we can set you up with a Gift Certificate. Happy Father’s Day and Welcome Summer! We thank you for being our customer.

April – Manager’s Minute

Hey Everybody,

Jim DearholtSpring is here and we are excited about it. I believe everyone knows me well enough to know that Easter is an important time of year to me. It marks the renewal of our spirit and the promise of our salvation. It’s a special time for us to reflect on the people in our lives, the things we have, and to care for those things. To be good stewards of the resources God gives us.

Of course, I’m a mechanic so that makes me think of taking care of vehicles. And taking care of your big investments, like cars and trucks is part of stewardship. Every year we see a job come through that could have been prevented with regular maintenance or an inspection. We just want to say to them, “if you would have gotten the oil changed, you would have know the oil was low and maybe that connecting-rod would not be on the outside of your engine block.” Earth Day is on the 22nd of April every year and it is about being good stewards of the planet. One of the number one ranked ways for reducing emissions and reducing fuel consumption, according to AAA, is regular maintenance and repair.

We welcome to our staff Harley Chatman, as our new front desk Customer Service Representative. More great news, Cheryl Montoya has been promoted to Service Advisor. Come in and meet Harley and congratulate Cheryl on her new position. We have recently brought on Nate Martinez and an additional Technician. We are thrilled to have these new employees on board, and having Cheryl taking on a new role in the company.

And it’s National Car Care Month, so we are offering our Annual VIP Car Care Club for 25% Off. Ask Harley for the details of everything that’s included in your membership.

We hope you enjoy the spring and have a wonderful Easter. We want to thank you for being our customer and welcome you into the shop anytime.

3 Ways To Save Gas

3 Tips To Save Gas

As fuel prices go higher, our customers are asking about how they can save gas. There are lots of opportunities to save money with your vehicle:

  1. Keep up with the standard maintenance of your vehicle. The better operating condition of your vehicle, the better your gas mileage will be. Tire pressure and alignment are good examples of services that can improve fuel efficiency.
  2. Reduce your speed and acceleration. We know it might take the fun out of driving, but the harder you push that pedal to the metal, the more fuel you are burning.
  3. Share a ride. Car pool. Team up with co-workers and family members to share trips and commutes.

At Dearholt AutoCare, our commitment is to keep your vehicle in the best condition we can and keep you informed of how you can improve vehicle performance. Schedule your service today.

Ownership, Maintenance & Repairs

► When buying a car, look for models that offer the best fuel economy in their class. For most drivers, an optional larger and/or more-powerful engine is unnecessary.

► Maintain your car according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. Modern cars don’t need “tune ups,” but regular service will ensure optimum fuel economy, performance and longevity.

► Take your car to a repair shop as soon as possible if the “Check Engine” light comes on. This indicates a problem that is causing excessive emissions and likely reducing fuel economy.
